Health Profile in the Region and 11 municipalities of North Jutland, 2006-2007

The municipality reform of 2007 has changed the administration of the Danish health care system. The municipalities are responsible for promoting a healthy life style and introducing preventive measures. The regions will provide preventive services aimed at patients using hospital services and/or general practice. The regions and the municipalities will be cooperating on the preventive measures. However, knowledge of the population''s well-being, health and diseases is needed to plan and prioritise the preventive measures. The aim of this study is to provide knowledge on the health of the citizens of The North Denmark Region in order to improve the local health care services. The population has been stratified by municipality and is a random, representative sample of citizens aged 16 - 79 years who lived in The North Denmark Region in 2006. The survey was conducted in 2006/2007. The questionnaire was based on the HEPRO model (Health Profiles Model) which represents a broad definition of health. The respondents were asked about their general health, quality of life, lifestyle and social relations. Furthermore they were asked about individual and social circumstances which might affect their health and quality of life.
