Women Chicken farmers

This paper draws from a longitudinal action research project for gender inclusive vaccine value chains, with a focus on women’s empowerment. The action research involves engaging chicken farmers through farmer cooperatives to enable access to inputs and services including vaccine technologies for New Castle Disease (NCD) vaccine for sustainable production of poultry .The study results are indicative of the important and enabling role played by farmer groups and cooperatives in promoting chicken farming activities .A mixed methods design was employed to collect data from 1274 households across 6 pre-selected study areas (wards) within Makueni County
