Plasmodium falciparum strain D6 was grown in the presence of 6-NH2Ac, an acridone compound thought to target the mtETC bc1, resulting in the strain SB1-A6 which was pan-resistance to anti-mitochondrial inhibitors. Genome sequencing revealed a mutation at position C276F in the dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (PF3D7_063300) coding sequence as well as an increase in copy number on Chromosome 6 (112701-132700).
