Onderstepoort Biological Products Bluetongue Vaccine Genome Sequencing

The control of Bluetongue disease in South Africa is through annual vaccination of susceptible animals. Onderstepoort Biological Products manufactures a Bluetongue (BTV) vaccine against prevalent serotypes. This project seeks to address the molecular characterization of the 15 serotypes incorporated in the vaccine. Whole-genome sequencing of the original master seed stocks was performed. The genome sequences were obtained using the Iron torrent and Illumina sequencing platforms. The data generated will contribute towards updating available data on the dossier.
