The Tibetan Plateau contains the largest area of cryosphere in the mid-low latitude regions, which is one of the most sensitive areas on Earth to climate change. However, the RNA virome in the Tibetan Plateau Cryosphere (TPC) remains largely unexplored. Here we analyzed 79 metatranscriptomes from cryosphere ecosystems including glaciers, proglacial lake sediments, permafrost-affected wetland and grassland soils.
