Didattica Luce in Sabina. Vicende e percorsi per scoprire e comprendere la storia locale

The article presents the experience of Didattica Luce in Sabina, a quarterly digital publication of the Istituto Luce Cinecittà of Rome and of the State Archive of Rieti, which uses sources, mainly audiovisual, historical and contemporary. In fact, in every issue of the journal, a theme is investigated using types of materials of different nature and origin: the photos of the collections of the State Archive of Rieti, the films of the Istituto Luce Cinecittà Archive, the documentation of the private archives, the interviews on territory, essays and articles extracted from exhibition catalogs, from paper journals, from local publications. The storytelling, which develops starting from these documents, allows to connect the voices of Rieti and its province with the universal historical events, to move from the general to the particular and vice versa; to recover, enrich or create new memories. The publication aggregates informations that builds a new digital archive. An evolving documentary complex. In the first part of the article, it goes back over the nature and objectives of Didattica Luce in Sabina, the main steps, the topics covered in the first year of publication (2017). In the second and third part of the contribution, some articles of the journal are taken as an example to show how the narration can be developed through different audiovisual materials, and how you can try to do public history.
