#Observa opinion polls: #---------------------- # #From 1967 and onwards Observa (from 1990 GfK Danmark) has carried out a number of opinion polls, i.e. surveys of attitudes and habits of life, partly through so-called political index polls (postal panel surveys) and partly through more extensive attitudinal surveys based on interviews. The political index polls have been carried out regularly in the period (approx. 10 times a year), whereas the attitudinal surveys have been carried out quarterly in the period 1969 to 1972. The current data collection of similar data material over a long period of time makes it possible to carry out various kinds of time series analyses, especially as regards party preference. #Other subjects are usually treated more superficially owing to the conditions under which the surveys are carried out (they are designed for publication in daily papers so the main emphasis has been put on topical issues, and only subjects which may be dealt with by means of a limited number of questions are included). #Until 1971 the political index polls were carried out for the daily paper Aktuelt; from 1972 for the daily paper Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten. The attitudinal surveys have been carried out exclusively for Jyllands-Posten. # # #Observa Political Index Polls, 1992: #------------------------------------ #In 1992 GfK Danmark carried out 11 political index polls. All the questions from these surveys, together with a fixed set of recurring background variables, are found in DDA-1991: Observa Political Index Polls, 1992. In addition, the individual political index polls, which contain various questions on topical issues, are found in DDA-1992 to DDA-2002. # #This survey (DDA-1996 Observa Political Index Polls 1992: May) deals with the following topical issues: # #Party preference; the leading politician of the Socialist People's Party; attitude to a general ban on abortion with certain exceptions; whether state subsidy to the political parties ought to depend on the number of members or the number of votes at the last general election; attitude to abolishing state subsidy to the parties; whether firms and insurance companies ought to be allowed to use genetic tests as a basis for the assessment of the qualifications of applicants; whether it should be obligatory with a written permission from a doctor before parents let their infants treat by a chiropractor; attitude to compulsory use of life jacket in small boats; attitude to building a music and theatre house in Copenhagen symbolizing the city; voting intention at the EC referendum on 2 June; attitude to forbidding policewomen to be on patrol during pregnancy; the number of pubs in Denmark; attitude to a reintroduction of apprenticeships; whether the municipalities should be obliged to offer instruction in the native languages of children of foreigners; forms of sanctions against young offenders; attitude to a ban on implant of silicone in breasts; attitude to car drivers installing radar detectors which warn them against the speed control of the police; attitude to the new service telephone numbers; and whether the Social Democratic Party should have voted for the settlement on activation schemes for the unemployed
