The Impact of Scientific Research on Sustainable Economic Growth in Saudi Arabia: A Time-Series Analysis (1996-2023).

The primary objective of this study is to conduct an empirical examination of the relationship between scientific research and economic growth in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, utilizing a time series of annual data from 1996 to 2023. The study employs the Johansen multivariate cointegration methodology to test for the existence of a long-term equilibrium relationship between the variables, and unit root testing methodology to determine the degree of integration of the variables. The Auto Regressive Distributed Lag Model (ARDL) was applied. The empirical results indicate that the relationship between research and economic growth is positive but not statistically significant. This study indicates that concerted efforts should be made by policymakers to enhance scientific research in order to accelerate growth, which would lead to economic development.
