ASSESSMENT OF LE FORT FRACTURES: MECHANISMS, TRENDS, MANAGEMENT, AND FUTURE PERSPECTIVES

Le Fort fractures represent archetypal midfacial fracture patterns, but contemporary trauma often produces complex variants that only partially conform to classical descriptions. This single-center observational series evaluates 12 patients with Le Fort-type fractures managed at Meridican Clinics and compares their injury patterns and outcomes with non–Le Fort skull fractures from recent epidemiological literature. Mechanisms, classification, and management strategies are contextualized within current trends, including high-energy road traffic trauma and the predominance of mixed midface–cranial injuries. The results provide detailed descriptive statistics on fracture type distribution, associated intracranial and cervical injuries, intensive care utilization, and mortality, highlighting the incremental risk with higher Le Fort grades.
