For each survey question, we map the Likert-scale responses as: Strongly disagree → 1, Somewhat disagree → 2, Neither agree nor disagree → 3, Somewhat agree → 4, Strongly agree → 5.

With this mapping, we computed the mean response in the two experiment conditions, displayed in columns 2 and 3. Column 4 provides the effect size, which is the normalized Mann-Whitney U statistic in our analysis. This value approximates the sample probability that a randomly chosen response from one condition was higher than a randomly chosen response from the other condition. Using the permutation test defined in (5) with 100,000 iterations, we report here the two-sided p-value of the test for each survey question in the last column. These p-values do not include a multiple testing correction, and are already insignificant.
