Longitudinal shifts in gut microbiota during mild COVID-19 are linked to Post-Acute COVID-19 Syndrome (PACS)

We explored the longitudinal shifts in GM composition during SARS-CoV-2 infection in a longitudinal cohort including households members, enabling us to reconstruct the weekly longitudinal dynamics of infection starting from the pre-infection negative phase, through the acute phase and the post-negativization recovery. In addition we investigated longitudinal associations between microbial features and symptoms reported during the acute phase, blood biochemical parameters, cytokines and the presence of long-term complaints (PACS) at 3-, 6-, 12- and 18-months post-infection.
