The pathogenic Vibrio parahaemolyticus strain VN-3218 isolated from the North Sea carried the novel filamentous phage vB_VpaI_VP-3218. The VN-3218 strain was induced in liquid culture (+MitC). DNA from virus particles was sequenced by Illumina MiSeq. Sequence reads were assembled with SPAdes, followed by (pro)phage identification using VirSorter and PHASTER. The single retained contig corresponded to the complete vB_VpaI_VP-3218 genome.
