Strengthening Financial Sustainabilty of Public technical and vocational education and training Institutions in Kenya

Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) has emerged as one of the moststrategic pillars for Kenya’s socio-economic transformation in the 21st century. As the economyexpands, rapid technological shifts, and an expanding youth population, the need for a skilled,competitive, and innovation-driven workforce has never been greater (Ministry of Education,2018; UNESCO, 2022). The central issue highlighted in this position paper is the ongoinginsufficiency of government funding for TVET institutions and the resulting need forsustainable, institution-led financing models to secure the quality, relevance, and long-termsustainability of TVET education in Kenya.
