资源简介:
Mechanical dysphagia is due to oesophageal structural alteration and presents a major nutritional concern among oesophageal cancer patients. Even though neoplastic oesophageal dysphagia is mechanical, residual physiological swallowing mechanisms are influenced by the biopsychosocial factors. These factors can therefore aggravate or improve the existing mechanical dysphagic manifestations. Identification of the modifiable biopsychosocial drivers of swallowing mechanisms can be helpful in the optimization of nutritional intake through the provision of individualized feeding instructions. Eating Assessment Tool (EAT-10) has traditionally been used cross-sectionally by clinicians to screen for dysphagic patients (EAT-10≥3), identify aspiration at-risk dysphagic patients (EAT-10 ≥15), and evaluate dysphagia post-treatment. In this case report, EAT-10 has been longitudinally used as a patient-reported outcome of various biopsychosocial settings on a sporadically occurring dysphagia. This, in turn, aided in offering tailored instructions on how to improve oral food intake, improve nutritional status, and response to treatment, thus reducing the need for hospitalization as well as the cost of care..
