NRS-20516 | Registers of dispute notifications to Conciliation Committees [Industrial Commission of New South Wales]

This series comprises registers recording disputes notified to be convened before conciliation commissioners under industrial arbitration legislation.  Powers were given to conciliation commissioners to summon persons to compulsory conferences under section 25 of the Industrial Arbitration Act, 1940 (Act No.2, 1940). Further powers to make determinations were given under the Industrial Arbitration (Amendment) Act, 1948 (Act No.13, 1948).  These powers were continued under the Industrial Relations Act, 1991 (Act No.34, 1991).  The early registers are hand-ruled and list: no.  [dispute number], date, dispute [description of matter], commissioner [name], and action [usually file date].  The later registers are standardised printed volumes with column headings for: CC number, date lodged, dispute number, matter [description], forwarded to commissioner [date], and action [name or date].The registers are bound volumes. Disputes are registered using an annual single number system.
