Forests: indicative map of the protective function of the forest

Delimitation of areas with a potentially protective function (self-protective and heteroprotective) by means of a GIS procedure for the territory of the province of Bolzano As part of the Interreg III Italy-Austria 2000-2006 Community Initiative Programme, a GIS-based procedure was developed for the territory of the province of Bolzano with the aim of delimiting wooded areas with a potentially protective function (divided into self-protective and heteroprotective forest). The following three phenomena have been studied: avalanches, boulders fall and water regimation.
