Sukeek's Cabin: Reconstruction

Sukeek's Cabin was the first home occupied by an African-American family after their emancipation, located at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum (JPPM) in Calvert County, southern Maryland. The house was constructed c. 1870 and abandoned before 1920 but stood until at least 1952. **This model includes an animation which can be used to toggle a view of a reconstruction on/off.** The reconstruction was made from archaeological evidence, eyewitness and descendant accounts, and based on similar structures in the area. A public excavation of the site found common domestic artifacts and artifacts related to education and home learning such as slate pencils, fragments of slate, and an alphabet plate (which is also published here on SketchFab).
