Dataset on Red Cell Distribution Width (RDW) and Associated Factors among Hypertensive and Normotensive Adults at Arba Minch General Hospital, Southern Ethiopia

This dataset contains anonymized participant-level data from a comparative cross-sectional study conducted between November 2023 and January 2024 at Arba Minch General Hospital, Southern Ethiopia. The study aimed to assess red cell distribution width (RDW) levels, identify associated factors, and explore its potential role in hypertension management. A total of 140 participants (70 hypertensive and 70 age- and sex-matched normotensive controls) were included.The dataset includes sociodemographic characteristics, lifestyle and behavioral factors, clinical data, and laboratory parameters such as RDW, C-reactive protein (CRP) and serum creatinine. These data were collected using a structured interviewer-administered questionnaire and analyzed with SPSS version 26.0.All identifiers were removed to protect participant confidentiality. The dataset is provided in machine-readable .csv format with accompanying variable definitions and coding descriptions. Researchers may reuse the data to examine hematological predictors of hypertension, assess RDW’s clinical utility, or perform meta-analyses in related fields.
