VPRS 12165 National Debt Sinking Fund Transactions

The National Debt Sinking Fund was established by the National Debt Sinking Fund Act 1923 (Commonwealth) for the redemption of Australian public debt. Both Commonwealth and the States were required to contribute to the fund, and the Commonwealth and each State maintained their own accounts within the fund. These contributions were designed to provide financial resources with which to reduce the debt of the Commonwealth and the States.This series consists of a journal of payments made to the National Debt Sinking Fund from the Treasurer of Victoria for each financial year. It provides details of the funds that the payments were appropriated from, totals paid to the Fund, and a Public Debt Statement which gives details of total balances owing for loans established under various acts.
