Induced resistance to a Biotin Protein Ligase inhibitor in Staphylococcus aureus NCTC8325

This study was designed to determine mechanisms of resistance that could occur to Biotin protein ligase (BPL) inhibitors in Staphylococcus aureus. The dataset consists of 8 independent strains of S. aureus sequenced using short read data. This included the parental untreated NCTC 8325 reference strain (B8) as well as 7 derived strains (B1-7) that were serially passaged in the presence of increasing concentrations of a BPL inhibitor BASA. Genetic differences between the strains were subsequently analysed for changes associated with reduced susceptibility to the inhibitor.
