We used the illumina platform to sequence poly-A selected and rRNA-depleted RNA from large numbers (hundreds) of wild-caught Drosophila, to survey the presence of viral sequences and to assemble new virus genomes. We targeted D. obscura, D. subobscura, D. tristis, D. subsilvestris, D. immigrans in the United Kingdom, and Scaptodrosophila deflexa in France.
