Genomic epidemiology of Neisseria gonorrhoeae isolates from Brazil, 2017-2020

In our previous research, we conducted WGS on 548 isolates collected from all five macroregions in Brazil during 2015-2016 to elucidate the circulating gonococcal lineages/sublineages and their AMR determinants, and to establish a baseline genomic diversity. Building upon that study, we have expanded our dataset to include more isolates from 2017-2020 as well as five additional sentinel sites. The broader range of isolates, along with the inclusion of the five sentinel sites, will allow us to provide a more robust comparative analysis with the data obtained from 2015-2016 and enhance our understanding of the epidemiological landscape and the AMR patterns of gonorrhoea in Brazil.
