Woodlot Data Set 4

Data on adult red maple trees and the nearest sapling were recorded in a woodlot near the Northern Essex Community College campus. When on a trail in the forest we walked along the trail and recorded the first red maple trees we saw and found the closest saplings. We decided which trees were adult by estimating those that were two and a half times our height. We decided the tree species using a tree guide that provided images of the tree's leaves. We mostly determined species by looking at the leaves.
