Radar echo patterns in North Dakota and implications for the design of rain gage networks to support operational radar rainfall measurement

A study was made of the precipitation patterns obtained from digital recordings of radar echoes from one summer's rainfall in North Dakota. The data were analyzed to yield frequency distributions of the percentage of the total radar surveillance area covered by echoes. Contract no. 5-35376
