Castellaniella defragrans 65Phen utilizes monoterpenes aerobically as well as anaerobically. A comparative proteome analyzes and a transposon mutagenesis were performed to identify the anarobic pathway and involved enzymes of the degradation of monocyclic monoterpenes. Additionally, potential substrates and metabolites were identified by physiological experiments.
