Transcription factor-overexpressed hairy roots in soybean

Analysis of IFS-edited soybean hairy roots revealed that the IFS knockout altered the expression of a very large number of different gene classes. The expression of the majority of flavonoid biosynthesis genes was also increased by IFS editing. It was therefore suggested that transcription factors with similarly increased expression levels are involved in flavonoid biosynthesis. There are a number of transcription factors with elevated expression, and we selected one MYB and two bHLHs among the up-regulated transcription factors with large log2-fold changes and analyzed their overexpression in hairy roots. The results suggest that MYB and bHLH affect different metabolic pathways, including salicylic acid biosynthesis and triterpene biosynthesis, respectively.
