Global diversity and biogeography of the Zostera marina associated microbial eukaryotes

In an effort to characterize the global distribution of seagrass-associated microbial eukaryotes, we collected leaves, roots and sediment associated with twelve Zostera marina individuals from sixteen sites across the Northern Hemisphere. We then sequenced the 18S ribosomal RNA gene to characterize the eukaryotic community associated with Z. marina globally, with a focus on fungi.
