Skate Nursery Investigations in the eastern Bering Sea NPRB project #415 summer 2004-summer 2005

The data set from the Skate nursery investigations is in excel flat files.The data consists of four spread sheets that contain all the
data from 5 samples spanning a 10 month period. Two nursery sites, BP=Alaska skate and Ba=Aleutian skate were sampled a total of 5 times while
the Bi=Bering skate site was sampled only during the summer of 2004. The haul and species data set contains all the specific haul information,
location, depth, temperatures, species composition vessel and time. The Biological data data set contains the individual information on selected
species in which biological data was taken. The Embryo data set contains the specific egg case and embryo measurements and information taken on
each individual. The egg adult sizes is a limited data set with biological information taken on adult female Alaska skates and their egg cases.
All the data can be linked together by the unique cruise, vessel, haul columns which occur in each data set. Data in all files varies tremendously
from species names to numerical observations such as weights and lengths, location data in gps coordinates to qulatiative categories such as 1, 2,
or 3, or presence absence. All three sites sampled are located in the southern eastern Bering Sea in Bristol and Bering Canyon. These datasets were archived as part of the North Pacific Research Board legacy project recovery effort undertaken by Axiom Data Science and NPRB in 2025. The goal of the recovery effort was to assess the NPRB-funded data projects from 2002 to 2014 and archive final data packages that were ready for publication to increase long-term accessibility and discoverability. Data packages were archived as is given limited funding and resources.
