16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing of ferrihydrite-coated sand, at Stordalen Mire, Abisko, Sweden in 2019.

Microbial community analysis of ferrihydrite-coated sand in teflon bags exposed for 2 months in the fully-thawed fen till late summer 2019 at Stordalen Mire, Abisko, Sweden. Each bag was placed at 10 cm depth and the hole was re-sealed with the soil layer which had been removed. Total DNA was extracted using the PowerSoil RNA and DNA isolation kit (MO BIO Laboratories, Carlsbad, CA, USA). Subsequent library preparation steps (Nextera, Illumina) and sequencing were performed by Microsynth AG (Switzerland) using the 2x250 bp MiSeq Reagent Kit v2 on an Illumina MiSeq sequencing system (Illumina, San Diego, CA, USA). From 113,554 to 151,092 read pairs were generated per sample, three samples in total.
