Overwriting the Narrator — Coding Inventory and Reliability Data

Coding inventory and reliability data supporting the manuscript "Overwriting the Narrator: Unmarked Translatorial Additions and the Production of Insider Testimony in the English Translation of a Saudi Shi'i Novel" (under review, 2026). The study introduces and operationalizes overwriting — the unmarked insertion of translator-authored material into narrator discourse that alters the narrator's footing — and applies it to the anonymous English translation of Seba al-Herz's Al-Ākharūn (The Others, 2009), with Rajaa Alsanea's Girls of Riyadh (2007) as an illustrative contrast.
