Frontex Risk Analysis Network Quarterly Report January-March 2010

Frontex Risk Analysis Unit (RAU) provides a regular overview of irregular migration at the EU external borders based on the illegal migration data provided by Member States border-control authorities in the context of the Frontex Risk Analysis Network (FRAN). The report is based on data and information provided by 30 FRAN Member States’ border-control authorities within the framework of the FRAN. The report is mostly based on a statistical analysis of monthly data on six indicators of illegal migration and one on asylum. In selected cases, bi-monthly analytical reports were used as well. In addition, where possible, other information collected by RAU, for instance during joint operations, was used. The monthly data was collected for the following seven main indicators: detections of illegal border-crossing between BCPs; detections of illegal border-crossing at BCPs; detections of suspected facilitators; detections of illegal stay; refusals of entry; asylum applications; detections of false documents.
