The table provides an overview of the number of benefits in the context of a
number of laws on disability. It is about the law on the
disability insurance (WAO), the Incapacity for Work Act
provision of Young Disabled Persons (Wajong) and the Incapacity for Work Act
insurance for self-employed persons (WAZ).
As from 1 January 2004, workers who are sick on or after that date may:
become, no longer claiming a WAO benefit. These employees
may, after the employer has continued to pay the salary for two years,
apply for a benefit under the Work Act as of 1 January 2006
and income by labour capacity (WIA). For the people who already have
Having a WAO benefit doesn't change anything. The number of benefits in the
framework of the WIA has not yet been included in the tables. Expected
this will be the case by the end of 2009.
As from 1 August 2004, self-employed persons who are sick on or after that date
become no longer entitled to a benefit under the WAZ.
For those who already have WAZ benefits, nothing changes.
The data are broken down by the following personal and
benefit characteristics:
— gender;
— age;
— region.
Data is available from: First quarter of 1998.
Status of the figures: the data are provisional or final.
Changes compared to the previous version:
19 March 2010. The preliminary figures for the fourth quarter of 2009 are
added.
When will there be new figures?
the table has been discontinued due to the appearance of a new table.
The figures from this table are included in the new table with
disability benefits by region.
