The fisher observations initiative is led by Hawai‘i fishermen Clay Tam and Roy Morioka to document on-the-water observations for fisheries across the U.S. Pacific Islands Region. Their goal was to provide context to fisheries-dependent data presented in the Annual Stock Assessment and Fishery Evaluation (SAFE) reports and add local and traditional ecological knowledge to science and management processes in the region.
