Peat incubation of S1 bog 2017

This research focuses on the response of soil microbial communities to elevated temperature in northern peatlands associated with the Spruce and Peatland Responses Under Changing Environments (SPRUCE) project, in which the peatland is exposed to whole ecosystem warming in large enclosures heated to between 0 C and 9 C above ambient temperatures to simulate climate change. Genomic DNA was extracted from soil microcosms treated at a range of temperatures (4 to 25 C), the 16S small subunit ribosomal RNA gene was amplified and sequenced on an Illumina MiSeq2000 platform.
