This thesis investigated the mechanism of action of the 2-aminobenzimidazoles, a new class of potent anti-malarial compounds. Malaria remains a severe global health problem and novel compounds with new mechanisms are urgently needed. In order to investigate mechanism of action of these compounds, novel techniques that combined biology and chemistry approaches were employed. Through this work, a putative target was identified, further advancing the development of these novel compounds towards a next generation of anti-malarial treatments.
