This project investigates the effects of bacteriocins (microcin J25, enterocin L50A, nisin Z, and brevibacillin Thr) on rumen microbial communities and fermentation activity using an in vitro rumen model. DNA extracted from fermentation samples was subjected to 16S rRNA gene sequencing on the Illumina MiSeq platform to characterize changes in bacterial composition, methane-related taxa, and volatile fatty acid-producing microbes. The study aims to identify potential natural alternatives to monensin for improving rumen efficiency and reducing methane emissions.
