Data and code for manuscript "The greater the threat, the greater the cooperation: predation risk drives mobbing intensity in tits"

Data and R script used for the analysis in our manuscript "The greater the threat, the greater the cooperation: predation risk drives mobbing intensity in tits". Abstract : Mobbing is a widespread anti-predator strategy among prey species and is considered as a form of cooperation. As such it is expected to be enhanced when the perceived risk of predation is locally increased. Here, through a manipulation of the landscape of fear (variation in the perceived predation risk 3 minutes per day), we study how it affects the propensity to engage in mobbing behaviour of two Paridae species (Great tit and Blue tit). For our two target species, a high perceived risk of predation led to greater engagement in mobbing behaviour. Additionally, we found no difference in mobbing engagement between the two species (even though the acoustic stimuli used were only heterospecific for the Great Tit), demonstrating that heterospecific cooperation also increases when the risk of predation increases.
