A sensitive urban area (or ZUS) was a suburban area defined by the French public authorities to be the priority target of city policy between 1996 and 2014 Sensitive urban areas were a subset of the larger set of the 2,500 priority neighbourhoods covered by the urban social cohesion contracts (CUCS) which succeeded the city contracts. The ZUS was abolished and replaced by the city policy priority neighbourhoods (QPV) on 1 January 2015.
