Understanding the Digital Divide in Higher Education: Dataset

This repository submission contains materials resulting from a survey conducted as part of a PhD research project studying digital divide risk among online degree students in the UK.This survey formed part of a PhD thesis evaluate the effectiveness of machine learning models compared to traditional statistical models in predicting digital divide risk among UK online degree students. The aims of the survey were to establish that a digital divide exists among UK online degree students by capturing the perspectives of Associate Lecturers (ALs) at The Oten University (OU) aching modules that contribute towards a degree qualification. Furthermore, it aimed to understand the barriers contributing to digital disparities and to explore whether factors such as level of study, subject area, or whether a student is “new” are predictors of digital divide risk.
