We performed dual RNA-sequencing of vaginal or uterine tissues and group b streptococcus (GBS) harbored in each tissue from gestational diabetic and non-diabetic mice. The samples were collected 3 days after vaginal inoculation with GBS strain A909, which coincided with E17.5 (+/- 3 days due to mating window). Our goals were to: A) identify group b streptococcal genes important for persistence in the gravid uterus, B) characterize GBS adaptation to a gestational diabetic (GDM) host, and C) identify how gestational diabetes impacts local host responses to group b streptococcus.
