Market share of the largest container ship alliances 2012-2021

The global container shipping market has consolidated into three main alliances over the last decade. While between 2012 and 2013, around 70 percent of the market was divided into independent shipping companies, their market share decreased to just about 20 percent between 2017 and 2021. 2M Alliance, OA Alliance, and THE Alliance dominated the global container shipping market from 2017 to 2021 with a combined market share of some 75 percent.
