The volume is labelled on the spine as 'Record of decisions in connection with remission of sentences 1901-1932'. Entries in the volume from 23 August 1901 up to 1920 summarise the cases of specific prisoners and show the decision of the Comptroller General of Prisons. Cases which establish precedents are also noted. From 1920 onwards, copies of memoranda in each case are included. The last entry is dated 26 February 1932.The volume also includes loosely in the front Sheriff's Office NSW Prison Branch Letter No.70/1157, registered 10 May 1870, regarding Sarah Clifford alias Fox. The letter is dated 9 May 1870 at Darlinghurst and gives an opinion by the Crown Law Office on the length of her sentence which was confirmed following an appeal.(2/2122). 1 vol.
