BIOVL-QR is a biochemistry-focused video-and-language dataset developed by Kyoto University. It contains 24 first-person experimental videos, each paired with corresponding experimental protocols and video-language alignment annotations. The dataset automatically annotates objects appearing in videos using mini QR codes, addressing the challenge of object recognition in laboratory environments. During its development, a hybrid approach combining mini QR codes and hand object detectors was employed for object annotation. This dataset is primarily used for generating experimental protocols from experimental videos, aiming to enhance the reproducibility and accuracy of scientific experiments.
