Wetlands of Haute-Savoie

The general definition of wetland included in the Environmental Code through its Article L211-1, meeting the legislative objective of balanced and sustainable management of the water resource, is as follows: ‘land, whether or not operated, usually flooded or swept with fresh water, salted or brackish permanently or temporarily; vegetation, where it exists, is dominated by hygrophilic plants for at least part of the year’. The contours of the areas are provided for information purposes and have no regulatory value.
