Microbiota of some coral species living in the Sea of Marmara

The microbiota of five coral species (Veretillum cynomorium, Alcyonium acaule, Paramuricea clavata, Eunicella cavolini and Savalia savaglia) living in the Sea of Marmara were monitored on a seasonal basis and the members of the microbiota were identified using the next generation sequencing (NGS) systems. The outputs of this study may help to diagnose coral diseases and compare healthy populations with the diseased ones and may protect this important ecosystem at disease outbreaks.
