The composition and transmission of endosymbiotic bacteria in Ixodes persulcatus during blood meal. insect metagenome

This study investigated the diversity of microbiome associated with Ixodes persulcatus before and after feeding. Additionally, microflora in rat blood upon ticks biting was examined for detecting the repertoire of microbes that were potentially transmitted to vertebrate hosts. Microbial profiles were obtained using amplicon pyrosequencing and cloning of 16S ribosomal RNA genes.
