Imports and exports of wood construction materials in the U.S. 2023, by type

Imports of wood construction materials by the United States in 2023 were much higher than the exports of those products. Builders' joinery and carpentry was the type of material with the highest import value, followed by plywood, veneered panel, and similar laminated wood. Railway and tramway sleepers were the only wood construction products with a positive trade balance. That year, the U.S. was also dependent on imports of iron and steel construction products.
