VPRS 17137 Index to Legal Opinions Sought by the Council

The index facilitates access to VPRS 9309 Legal Opinions Sought by the Council by subject of the opinion.There are two indexes inside one folder. The contents of the indexes may overlap, or one may have superseded the other. At least one of the indexes appears to cover the full range of numbers (1 to 245) which have been allocated to the files.The index is arranged in alphabetical order by subject of the case and gives the case number. Examples of some of the subject headings are: by-laws, assessment (for rates), footways, elections, and street processions.Loosely included in the same folder as the index are some legal opinions, date range 1939 to 1954. They are not numbered sequentially like the others in VPRS 9309 Legal Opinions Sought by the Council. Most of these opinions appear to be copies of opinions which comprise the subsequent series which have not been transferred to the Public Record Office.
