This study takes melon varieties with different nitrogen use efficiencies as the research objects, and its core goal is to clarify the characteristics of differentially expressed genes in response to reduced nitrogen application, thereby providing theoretical support and genetic resources for the breeding of melon varieties with high nitrogen use efficiency. In the experiment, melon varieties with high and low nitrogen use efficiencies were used as test materials, and two treatment conditions were set up, namely normal nitrogen (control) and low nitrogen (reduced nitrogen application). Functional leaves with consistent fruit-setting nodes and uniform growth potential of each variety were selected as sequencing samples for high-throughput transcriptome sequencing analysis. The research focuses on the analysis of the expression patterns of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) related to nitrogen metabolism pathways. Combined with gene functional enrichment classification and metabolic pathway annotation, it systematically clarifies the molecular regulatory mechanisms of melon varieties with different nitrogen use efficiencies in response to low-nitrogen stress
