Genomic investigation of multi-drug resistant Shigella sonnei outbreak in Tunisia (2022-2023)

We aimed to investigate the genomic characteristics of multi-drug resistant Shigella sonnei isolated during a Shigellosis outbreak in Tunisia during 2022-2023. We employed whole-genome sequencing (WGS) to examine the clonal relationship, antimicrobial resistance determinants, and virulence factors of outbreak S. sonnei isolates collected from South Tunisia.
